2022

To commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Dasmesh Pita Shri Guru Gobind Singh’s four Sahibzaade a two days treatment camp was organised by Dept of Pedodontia and Preventive Dentistry on 27th and 28th of December 2022 at DIRDS.

DIRDS alumni Association organized Guest Lecture of Dirds distinguished alumnus Dr. Ramneek Rai Assistant clinical professor and director of health and Safety at UCSF titled “Fundamentals of Safe Dental clinics” on 24/12/2022. All the students and faculty members attended the lecture. Dr Anita Mehta welcomed the speaker. Dr SPS Sodhi gave vote of thanks. Dr. Harbhajneek Kaur organized this event.

Another milestone for DIRDS
Dasmesh institute of research and dental sciences.Faridkot was amongst 6 institutes selected out of 500 institutes countrywide by Bank of Baroda to provide scholarships to meritorious students” Baroda Achievers Award” . Bank of Baroda in a noble initiative honoured our meritorious students with scholarship of Rs 31000 each. Jasmeen Sondhi BDS final year student bagged best graduate ( Academic Category ) Abhay Pratap Singh Brar BDS final year student bagged Best All round student( All round category ) and Vidushi Gilhotra bagged Best sportsperson award ( Sports Category ) . The Baroda achievement award ceremony was held on 23/12/2022 at DIRDS.

62nd annual punjab state dental conference was held in hotel aagaazludhiana from 15th to 17th december, 2023. around 80 undergraduate and 12 postgraduate students participated in it. both undergraduate and postgraduate students presented various scientific presentations and created their impact at the state level by bagging various positions as follows:

REPORT OF FEE MEGA DENTURE CAMP 16/11/2023
 
 
A Free Mega Denture and Dental Ailment camp was organized in the sweet loving memory of Capt. Dr Puran Singh and Mata Sohan Kaur Ji parents of our Dr.Gursevak Singh, Director, DIRDSon Thursday dated 16th November 2023 at Dasmesh Institute of Research and Dental Sciences, Faridkot. Dental camp was organized under the able guidance of our worthy Principal Dr. SPS Sodhi. More than 370 patients registered for the camp and will undergo various dental treatments free of charge for the next three months. In this camp, 171 patients will get free dentures, free cleaning of teeth (scaling), free restorations, free extractions and x- rays will be done at half the price. One of the unique features of this camp was that the payment for free dentures will be done under Mata Sohan Kaur Dental Health Scheme which is sponsored by Dr.Gursevak Singh and Family.  S. Swaranjit Singh, Joint Director encouraged all the Faculty members and students by their worthy presence. Dr.Pardeep Bansal and Dr.Prahlad Gupta were Convenor and Co – Convenor.
Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry celebrated Pedodontist Day 2023 under the guidance of Principal Dr S.P.S. Sodhi, by organizing a School Dental Health Education Program. Dr. Gursevak Singh, Director and S. Swarnjit Singh Gill, Joint Director were the Guest of Honor. Team headed by Dr Meenu Bhola, Professor and Head, Dr Nitika Bajaj, Professor and Dr Payal Jain, conducted a free one day dental health check up and treatment camp. Post graduate students performed a skit to make children aware about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. Drawing competition was organized and the winners were awarded with First, Second and Third Prizes. Special prizes were given to children who showed exceptional artistic talents in drawing, dancing and singing to ensure brightest smiles on their faces. All the students of the school were provided with Dental hygiene kits.
OMR Dept. celebrated the World Radiology Day on 8th November 2023
 
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at Dasmesh Institute of Research and Dental Sciences, Faridkot, celebrated World Radiology Day on November 8, 2023. An Oral Radiology Quiz competition was arranged for Undergraduate students. The Management members and The Principal awarded the Prizes for winners of Quiz competition.

National Workshop on Mandibular Pathology

DIRDS, Faridkot, under the able guidance of Respected Principal Dr. SPS Sodhi Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology organized AWARENESS CAMPAIGN on ‘WORLD TOBACCO DAY’ at Sangat Sahib Bhai Pheru Khalsa School, Faridkot. Dr. Basavaraj T. Bhagwati, Professor and Head presented with an informative lecture regarding the ill- effects of Tobacco consumption also emphasizing the theme of the year 2023 i.e. “WE WANT FOOD NOT TOBACCO”
Oath ceremony was also conducted at the school by Dr. Preeti Dhir.
The interns organized a Play regarding the harmful effects of Tobacco under the guidance of Dr. Mandeep Kaur.
A lecture cum workshop on ” Usefulness of Intellectual Property and Patents for Dental Doctors and Surgeons” was organized by the Dept of Periodontology on 30th May 2023. Dr. Parikshit Bansal, PhD, LLB and Mrs. Kompal Bansal of Bansal IP Associates, Chandigarh were the guest speakers.

Dr. Nitin Khuller and Dr. Anita Mehta of Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology were invited to give lecture in MDS Student Teacher Exchange Program held in Govt. Dental College, Patiala on 15/03/23 and 18/03/23 respectively.
Department of Periodontology & Implantology secured the FIRST PRIZE IN DEBATE COMPETITION held on 15.03.23 during the MDS Student Teacher Exchange Program at Govt. Dental College & Hospital, Patiala.
International Women’s Day 2023 was celebrated at Dasmesh Institute of Research and Dental Sciences Faridkot, Punjab. Dr Ruhee Dugg Deputy commissioner was the chief guest of the event and graced the occasion by delivering the lecture on ‘How to crack IAS examination’ to all the dental students..
25th National Workshop on Craniofacial -Maxillofacial Surgery under the aegis of Indian Academy of Maxillofacial Surgery was organized by Jabalpur Hospital and Research Centre Hitkarini Dental College with Scientific endorsement by International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons at Jabalpur from 2nd March to 5th March.
33rd annual conference of Indian society for dental research was held at New Delhi from 17th to 19th Feb, 2023. Dr Asmita Sharma Post graduate Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery secured 2 nd position for post graduate e poster presentation. Congratulations Dr Asmita !

Inter college youth festival organised by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle was held on 22nd Feb, 2023 at Adhesh university, Bathinda. Irvanjot kaur of BDS Third Prof grabbed first position in paragraph writing while Divyanshi Goyal bagged second position in PPT making.
International Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Day (13th Feb,2023) was celebrated at Dasmesh Institute of Research & Dental Sciences, Faridkot by carrying out a sensitization drive about Road Traffic Accidents amongst the students (10+1, 10+2) of Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Faridkot about the various preventive measures!

DIRDS Alumni Association organized Guest Lecture of DIRDS distinguished Alumnus Dr. Navdeep Singh Sandhu, DDS & Fellow in Pedodontic Anaesthesia titled “Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice” on 5/01/2023. Dr. Ramandeep Singh Brar (Convenor) and Dr. Prahlad Gupta (Co-convenor) welcomed the speaker by presenting the bouquet.
Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, under the aegis of Dasmesh Academy of Continuous Dental Education, organized one day workshop on “Principles of Minor Oral Surgery” and Hands-on workshop on Suturing techniques on 17th Jan 2023 on chicken-leg piece.
Dr. SPS Sodhi (Principal & HOD), was the chairman, Dr Ramandeep Singh Brar (Professor), cochairman and Dr. Gursimrat Brar (Associate Prof), convener and Dr Simran Kaur (Assistant Professor) was the co-convener for the workshop.

2024

International Max Fax Day was celebrated at DIrds Faridkot by deptt. Of OMFS today.
Simultaneously presentation on Trauma Awareness was conducted. Dr S P S Sodhi Dr Gursimrat Brar & Residents Doctors sensitised all the BDS Prof by their respective addresses.
Later Poster Competition on Road Safety was also organized & 27 students participated. Everyone appreciated this hand made posters. Winners were duly awarded & participants got certificates too.
