The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is an advanced surgical speciality. It deals with any emergency management of orofacial region. The oral surgeons also perform surgeries in association with other medical specialities and super specialities like Department of Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, ENT, General Surgery and Ophthalmology. The variety of challenging cases, state-of-the-art facility, well equipped operation theatres and well experienced staff makes this a unique department for both teaching and learning the art of maxillofacial surgery.

The department has well-planned and spacious clinic to handle the procedures of exodontia and other minor surgical procedures done under local anaesthesia. Undergraduates and postgraduates are trained in this section for minor oral surgical procedures.
SEPTIC CLINIC
Septic Clinic is equipped with the four dental chairs exclusively for the patients suffering from HCV, HBV, HIV etc.
MINOR SURGERY COMPLEX
The Minor surgery OT comprises of 5 fully functioning dental chairs to provide quality dental and surgical care to our patients.
OPERATION THEATRES
The OT complex consists of two fully functioning theatres equipped with the latest equipment.
WARDS
The ward has two general wards, one for the males and another for the females for the comfort of our patients. The ward is attended by doctors and nurses round the clock. High quality patient care is provided by dedicated and well-qualified nursing staff.

DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
Department of Pediatric Dentistry is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through teenage. This speciality adapts techniques and procedures that provide primary and comprehensive oral health care that includes the following:
Infant Oral Health examination which includes risk assessment for dental caries in children.
Preventive dental care which includes cleaning of teeth (scaling), fluoride treatment, diet counselling, pit and fissure sealant application.
Restoration of the tooth with tooth coloured filling materials.
Root Canal Therapy for primary and young permanent teeth.
Care for dental injuries (for example: fractured, displaced or knockedout tooth).
Management of various oral habits like thumb sucking, mouth breathing, tongue thrusting.

PROSTHODONTICS, CROWN & BRIDGE, AND ORAL IMPLANTOLOGY:
Prosthodontics is a branch of Dentistry concerned with the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth and other oral structures. The Department of Prosthodontics is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students over the course of five years. The postgraduate intake began in 2011 with 3 3 postgraduate intake in each batch every year. It offers diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance of oral function with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth. The department provides a wide range of treatment options for replacing missing teeth with implant-supported prostheses. The department also provides treatment options for maxillofacial prosthesis.

- The Department is well equipped with clinical and laboratory facilities for routine complete denture and partial denture.
- It also has a state-of-the-art Central Casting & Ceramic Laboratory facility
- It also has a library with a good number of standard national/international textbooks/journals/articles and an internet facility to meet the academic needs of students.
- The department has two laboratories for the completion of lab work for patient treatment, one for undergraduate students and one for postgraduate students.
- There is a different laboratory for pre-clinical prosthodontics and for dental material practical classes.

The department of Periodontology was established in the year 1992 and recognized for the MDS course in the year 2011. Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology prides itself on an impressive infrastructure for both undergraduate and postgraduate training programs, patient care and research activities in the field of Periodontology. Clinical skills training in non-surgical and preventive periodontal procedures and the opportunity to master a variety of periodontal surgical and implant procedures under the guidance of experienced faculty have been at the core of the department’s objectives.
Location: It is a well-ventilated, sprawling space designated as department number 5 on the first floor of the main dental college building.
Sub-sections: The department has separate undergraduate and postgraduate sections, minor operation theatre, donning and doffing area, UG & PG sterilization room, seminar room, HOD room, PG common room& patient counselling room.
Major Equipment: The department has well well-equipped minor operation theatre comprising the latest treatment modalities like Electrocautery, Diode Laser, Ultrasonic scalers, Dental Implant Surgery Kit, Centrifuge Machine, CGF Box system, along with proper sterilization facilities like table-top automatic autoclave.

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology is unique in that it combines Oral Medicine, which deals with non-surgical management of oral diseases, and Radiology, which employs various imaging modalities, and therapy sits at the interface between Dentistry and Medicine. Oral Medicine and Radiology is considered as the backbone of Dentistry as it deals with the diagnosis of all dental diseases. Conditions managed in Oral Medicine are often chronic and may have a significant psychological, as well as physical, impact on the patient’s quality of life.

The division of Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging Sciences within the department has emerged as the Pioneer 3D diagnostic imaging centre in the Northern part of India and is First Dental Institute equipped with Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Unit.
The department has run a very successful much sought after postgraduate programme (MDS) since 2012. The residents trained in the department currently occupy high positions in academics, research both nationally and internationally. Specialization in OMR requires the completion of three year course in the specialty in a Dental Council of India recognized institution. Training includes a thorough knowledge on techniques and interpretation for conventional as well as advanced maxillofacial imaging like Cone Beam Computed Tomography.

DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY AND ENDODONTICS
The
Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics deals with diseases of the pulp and other aesthetic treatments. The Department witnesses an OPD of more than one hundred patients per day. It is equipped with all the latest equipments, infrastructure and laboratory facilities. The Conservative department has separate under-graduate and post-graduate sections. All the latest treatment modalities like single visit endodontics, microscopic endodontics, ceramic crowns and laminates are carried out here. The Department has intake of two post-graduates every academic year. The Department post-graduates routinely rank among the top three university merit holders. Centrally air conditioned pre-conservative lab is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators of international standards and one of the best in the country.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY
The Public Health Dentistry Department focuses on the science and art of preventing and controlling dental diseases and promoting dental health through organized community efforts. Our faculty and staff are responsible for the planning and execution of community-based extramural experiences (both clinical and non-clinical) and public health course work of the dental students.
We work with a mission to eliminate disparities in health status and access to healthcare services, promote optimum oral health and prevent disease through research, training and preventive and curative services.
Department is fully equipped with ultramodern dental chairs and the most sophisticated gadgets to increase awareness about dental health in the general population and is presently being utilized for individual patient counselling and a tobacco cessation program.
Department is actively involved in dental camps and awareness programs specifically targeting the rural population and school-going children and has acquired 1 state-of-the-art air-conditioned mobile dental van equipped with the most updated instruments and gadgets. Our mobile dental unit (MDU) also helps in this endeavour of providing oral health care to the underserved in the rural areas.
The department also runs siix Satellite Clinics for the benefit of patients, where basic oral health care is rendered. The clinics are well equipped with all the facilities to ensure quality care. Referral care is brought to college on carry way basis and oral health services are provided on nominal charges.
Department has adopted “Learning from Experts: A Course for Healthcare Professionals” – Online tobacco cessation programme developed by faculty at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA and the interns are required to complete this programme failing which their internship is not completed.
This discipline provides a forum for overall patient care and is a stepping stone in bringing a positive oral health. It has tremendously changed minds and long way to go. The theme holds true – “Oral Health for Overall Health”

The department trains the Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate students in Anatomy by traditional and innovative methods. The Dissection hall is equipped for demonstration of dissection and also has cold storage facility for preservation of cadavers. All lecture theatres are air-conditioned with audio-visual units. Physiology
The department of Physiology at DIRDS is well staffed and fully equipped as per the DCI norms. The faculty are highly qualified, keenly motivated and experienced. There are two labs in the department, one for Haematology and one for Experimental Physiology. Both are supplied with all the equipment as per the DCI requirements. In addition, there is a facility to provide reference books for students. Lectures are taken in the state-of-the-art lecture theatre. The faculty employs various teaching methodologies for the benefit of students and is also involved in research and academic development. The students are taught through didactic lectures as well as clinical practicals. The curriculum is according to the DCI syllabus as well and the required cellular physiology and systemic physiology related to the topic are also encompassed. Comprehensive revision classes are taken along with model exams set according to the University exam pattern. The faculty in the department is attuned to students’ learning needs authored and has many national and international publications. We conduct tutorials and viva periodically to assess the students. There is a continuous high pass percentage and scoring of distinctions by the students in the subject in the University examinations.

The Department of General Medicine is committed to regular teaching of theory and practical skills in the subject of medicine. Department of General Surgery at Dasmesh Dental College & Hospital Faridkot is situated on ground floor of Dasmesh Hospital. It has Surgical OPD, Minor Operation Theatre and Main OT. Surgical Indoor for Post Operation patients with special AC Rooms. Surgical ward has Nursing Sister and Qualified Staff Nurses alongside surgical OPD. There is a Demonstration room for Clinical Teaching of BDS Students.
